Kendji Girac made a poignant return to music with “Si seulement,” a heartfelt tribute to his fans following a serious accident earlier in the year. After retreating from public life to focus on recovery and family, he re-engaged with his audience through social media. His sixth album, “Vivre,” features songs reflecting his journey back to happiness, including a dedication to his partner. Despite challenges balancing fatherhood and his career, he plans to postpone his tour until January 2026.
Kendji Girac’s Emotional Comeback with “Si seulement”
Kendji Girac made a heartfelt return to the music scene last summer with his touching song “Si seulement,” a tribute to his loyal fans that showcases the deep affection he feels for them. This creative resurgence came on the heels of a tragic incident he faced just weeks earlier, in late April. The talented artist, known for his hit “Color Gitano,” suffered a serious accident when he accidentally shot himself in the chest while at a rest stop near Biscarrosse, where he was with members of his community. The event drew significant media attention, especially as an investigation was launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred while he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Reflection and Recovery: A Journey Back to Happiness
Following the accident, Kendji chose to retreat from the public eye, fueled by rumors that his partner, Soraya Miranda, might leave him to safeguard their daughter, Eva. During this challenging recovery period, he finally connected with his fans through social media, providing them with encouraging updates and expressing his apologies. This sentiment is encapsulated in “Si seulement,” which was the lead single from his sixth album, “Vivre,” released in early October.
Two months after the album’s debut, Kendji appeared on “C à vous” (France 5) to share his experience with host Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine. The 28-year-old artist, who has been actively engaging with the public through various events, including the Telethon and “Un dimanche à la campagne,” opened up about the near-fatal accident and the important decisions he made afterward. He emphasized the necessity of stepping back from his career to concentrate on personal healing and reconnecting with loved ones. “I turned everything off, I took the love of my family, my daughter, my wife, and the love from the public that I still felt,” he shared.
Kendji, the winner of “The Voice” season 3, also expressed that he was able to bounce back quickly and rediscover happiness with Soraya Miranda, to whom he dedicated a special song on the “Vivre” album. “There were many different things said about her, so she was very shocked. The most important thing is that we knew the truth,” he explained, reflecting on the meaning behind his song “J’ai changé,” which was a gesture to reassure her of his commitment. He recalled the urgency to create new music, starting the day after his accident, and even asked Vianney, a long-time collaborator, to help him continue writing so he could reconnect with his audience.
Recently spotted at the castle of Dammarie-lès-Lys, Kendji also discussed a lighter subject: the education of his 3-year-old daughter, Eva, who has just begun school. He candidly admitted that juggling his music career and fatherhood has its challenges, requiring certain compromises. “I try to arrange my concert days. For example, I leave for three days during the week, like Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday. Once the concerts are over, I quickly go home,” he shared with the host of “Cinq,” before concluding, “It’s going to be more complicated. But I will return as quickly as possible to see my princesses.”
This delicate balance in his life might explain why Kendji Girac is postponing his new tour. Fans will have to wait until January 31, 2026, to see him perform again, as he prepares for the launch of his show “Nos 10 ans” at the Zénith in Amiens.
