After revealing his talents behind a microphone, Kendji Girac will be able to demonstrate that he is also very comfortable in front of a camera. Indeed, he will hold the role of Zack in Champion, a TV movie broadcast in the coming weeks on TF1, a young craftsman passionate about boxing and suffering from illiteracy. The scenario greatly affecting the winner of the third season of “The Voice”, he did not need to make the production wait too long before giving his agreement and accepting the bet.
He explained to our colleagues from Parisian, on February 27: “Let’s throw myself into my first film, I wanted to start strong with a story that was close to my heart”. Kendji Girac admitting that he recognized himself enormously in the character of Zack. It is also for this reason that he accepted the proposal. “When I was younger, I could read of course, but not fast enough to follow the lyrics on the teleprompters to the beat of the music when I was singing on shows. It was quite awkward for me”he revealed before adding: “So I put myself in the place of a person who could not read at all to tell his difficulties. I want to break the clichés around this problem which concerns 2.5 million French people”.
Weight loss for a good cause
But in addition to trying out a new art, Kendji Girac had to work on himself and his physique for this first role. Indeed, in the Clap program this Wednesday, February 3, the artist revealed that he had “lost some weight […] There will be a few scenes where I will be seen shirtless. With my girlfriends, we will have scenes where we will be closer and therefore, suddenly, it is better to be prepared!.
An experience that does not seem to have cooled the singer. The latter admitting that he would be ready to re-enlist for a new role: “I want to continue to play comedy, alongside my career as a musician, to tell more and more stories”.
