A successful businessman who made his fortune in the apparel industry, Ken Block has established himself for more than 10 years as an equally accomplished pilot. His antics behind the wheel of various racing vehicles, obviously used for promotional purposes, have become a viral phenomenon in themselves. Like the entire auto industry, Americans are now on the verge of going electric.
Now in the fold of Audi after a freshly sealed partnership, Block will be entitled to a custom-made frame for his next video. Named S1 Hoonitron, in homage to the legendary Quattro S1 rally car and in reference to the Block Hoonigan Racing team, this creation will have the mission of adding an additional dimension to the electric.
There is undoubtedly its very evocative design sculpted in the design studio of the mark with the rings in Ingolstadt. With oversized fenders and expressive aerodynamic appendages, this Audi is already an eloquent business card. It also looks quite compact with a short wheelbase, just like the object of inspiration.
Technically, Audi has simply clarified that it will be based on a platform made of carbon fiber, presumably to counterbalance the weight gain due to the battery. It will be powered by two electric motors to ensure its all-wheel drive. That said, Block said the car is capable of spinning its wheels up to 150 km / h, which exhibits tremendous power… and possibly a traction problem.
A very interesting project to follow, therefore, during the year 2022.
