This is how striker Kei Kamara declared his retirement from international soccer on Thursday. The CF Montreal player made the announcement on social networks.

“Today I hang up my international shirt to focus on my club career,” he wrote. Now when those international breaks come around I will be spending time with my family, but I will always miss those games. »

Kei Kamara is 37 years old. He played 39 games in total for the Sierra Leonean side, scoring 7 goals over a span of 13 years.

Kamara most recently took part in the last Africa Cup of Nations for the first time last January. He also started all three of Sierra Leone’s games, playing 263 minutes there.

The Sierra Leonean has mostly enjoyed a fine career in MLS, scoring 131 goals in 362 games. He’s just two goals away from passing Jaime Moreno for fourth in Garber Tour scoring.

His contract with CF Montreal is valid until December of this year.
