Three students were injured Monday at a middle school in Kazakhstan, a vast country in Central Asia, after being attacked with an ax and knife by another student, who was arrested, authorities said.
The schoolboy, in 3rd grade, “came out of the toilet with a knife and an ax”, said an official in Petropavlovsk, a city of some 200,000 inhabitants near the Russian border, quoted by the official news agency Kazinform.
According to the same source, “two children affected in the head and forearm were transferred to the hospital and the third was treated on the spot”. The three victims, two boys and a girl, are conscious.
The assailant, educated in 3rd grade, who was “psychiatrically monitored according to preliminary information”, was arrested and an investigation for attempted murder was opened, said the regional prosecutor’s office.
