Katherine Levac at the helm of Olivier

After having valiantly kept the Gala Les Olivier alive, despite the cloud of a pandemic having upset the performing arts, François Bellefeuille will see Katherine Levac succeed him at the helm of the 23e edition of the comic ceremony, March 19, 2023.

The most recent Gala Les Olivier could have been just an email, joked François Bellefeuille last March, crystallizing at the same time the impression of futility that this award ceremony gave off, which usually rewards shows, when no show could be rewarded. The ratings – 676,000 viewers, a drop of 28% compared to the previous edition – had confirmed that this impression obviously did not only permeate the artisans of the world of humor.

It is in this context that Katherine Levac, Discovery of the Year of the Oliviers of 2015, will have to appropriate this evening which will at least enjoy the resumption of indoor shows. The presenter of Love is in the meadow is only the third woman to be entrusted with the Olivier microphone, after Lise Dion, the first host in the history of the gala in 1999 and 2000, then Claudine Mercier, who co-hosted with Mario Jean in 2001.

The announcement comes as other channels question the relevance of their statuette distribution sessions. TVA announced last week that its Gala Artis had been disconnected for good.
