The life of Kate Winslet
changed completely with the release of the film
Titanic. In 1997, the British actress played Rose DeWitt-Bukater in the feature film James Cameron
alongside Leonardo DiCaprio who, for his part, played Jack Dawson. If the success of the film was beneficial to the one who was starting out in the seventh art, it seems that the star, now 48 years old, also experienced this rise in the worst possible way.
At the time, the actress was only 22 years old and had just starred in one of the highest grossing films of all time. In the spotlight, she seemed convinced that she had to comply with the demands of Hollywood. “[Les jeunes femmes] now know how to use their voice”she confided recently in the columns of Net-a-Porter. “I had the impression that [après Titanic] I had to look a certain way, or be a certain thing, and because media intrusion was so great at that time, my life was quite unpleasant.”

“Being famous was horrible”
“Journalists always said, ‘After Titanic,’ you could have done anything and yet you chose to do these little things’…and I was like, ‘Yeah, you bet your fucking life I did it !’ Because, guess what, being famous was horrible‘”, explained Ned Rocknroll’s wife. And to add: “I was grateful, of course. I was in my twenties and I was able to find an apartment. But I didn’t want to be followed around feeding the ducks.”
During an interview for the podcast Happy Sad Confused in 2022, Kate Winslet also remembered being victim of heavy humiliation After Titanic, especially because of his physique. “Apparently I was too fat”, she had clarified. Today, she says she is proud to see the world view evolving in the right direction.
