She never misses an opportunity to get there: like every year, Kate Middleton came to Wimbledon on Tuesday to attend the quarter-finals which are played there all afternoon. Dressed in a blue Alessandra Rich dress (£1,500) and white high-heeled pumps, she met with officials from the British tennis league, of which she is president, and slipped into the stands alongside of Prince William.
Very relaxed, he wore a gray jacket over a white shirt and seemed as delighted as his wife to attend the day’s meetings, in particular the one that should oppose world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to the young Italian Jannik Sinner. It must be said that the couple are tennis fans and never miss an opportunity to come to the tournament when they can, often to encourage the British players, almost all eliminated this year.
Moreover, the Cambridge couple should undoubtedly meet one of their last compatriots still in contention, Cameron Norrie, who will try this afternoon to qualify for the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament. In the meantime, they will no doubt have fun taking photos to tell their three children about their day, George (almost 9 years old), Charlotte (7 years old) and Louis (4 years old), who love sport… but who seem for the moment more football than tennis!
Last year, Kate Middleton came three times to watch the matches, including once with her husband and once with her father, Michael, who seemed delighted to have a good time with his daughter ahead of the men’s final of the tournament. In 2019, she had attended the superb match between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, which was widely remembered by tennis fans.
But it was during the 2018 edition that she had made her most observed annual visit by fans of the royal family: indeed, for the first (and only!) time, she had shared this moment with her beautiful -sister Meghan Markle: while the American was still living in London and no scandal had yet enamelled the family, the two women had attended the ladies’ final, in which Serena Williams, a great friend of the actress, played.
And if, since then, relations between them have frozen, no question for the Duchess of Cambridge to miss this annual meeting during which she has a lot of fun!
