Kate Middleton and William: Their very worried children, confidences in a delicate period

They may be growing up in Kensington Palace, but George, Charlotte and Louis (8, 6 and 3 years old) are not cut off from the world. Schooled outside the palace walls, the three children of Prince William and Kate Middleton are even very aware of what is happening around them, including the war raging in Ukraine. An anxiety-provoking climate in the face of which the Cambridges have had to deal, like many parents for two weeks now.

On Wednesday March 9, 2022, Kate Middleton and William were out at the Ukrainian cultural center in London, to meet the many volunteers mobilized to help Ukrainians from the United Kingdom. Homemade cakes, pins in the colors of Ukraine prominently displayed, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recalled their support for the Ukrainian people in the face of the violent attacks by Russian troops sent by Vladimir Putin.

Between two exchanges with volunteers, the future king of England slipped that his three children also ask him questions about the current situation: “Ours came home with lots of questions about it“, explained the 39-year-old Briton, as reported by the magazine Hello. “They obviously talk about it with their friends at school“Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte are educated in the same private school, that of Thomas’s Battersea, located in south-west London. Faced with the questions of their children, Kate Middleton and William must probably deal with answers understandable but not too scary…

A royal family mobilized as rarely

On February 26, two days after the start of the Russian attacks, the couple expressed their support for the Ukrainians in a message posted on social networks: “In October 2020, we had the privilege of meeting with President Zelensky and the First Lady to discuss their hopes and optimism for the future of Ukraine. Today, we stand with the President and all Ukrainians as they bravely fight for that future. W&C.” Message which had not failed to touch President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had subsequently expressed his gratitude, between two bombardments.

In recent days, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have also taken sides in favor of the Ukrainians. For her part, Queen Elizabeth subtly came out of her legendary reserve by sending a nice check to the Disaster Emergency Committee, mobilized to help the Ukrainian people. Prince William and Kate Middleton also spoke on Wednesday with Saleh Saeed, the president of this emergency committee. Positions noticed as the British royal family generally refrains from expressing any political conviction.
