After celebrating their 10 years of marriage last summer, the Cambridges are preparing to take another step: the 40 years of Kate Middleton! Prince William’s wife will blow out her candles on Sunday January 9, 2022, probably in her beloved country house in Anmer Hall, surrounded by her three children. On the occasion of this anniversary, an English royal photographer brought out an unpublished photo of the Duchess and reported some confidences of Prince William, on his brief break with Kate Middleton …
Following their meeting on the benches of St Andrews University, Scotland, in the early 2000s, Prince William and Kate Middleton first enjoyed a romance away from the media. Their romantic relationship began to make noise in the tabloids when they graduated in 2005. But, to everyone’s surprise, the couple broke up in April 2007 … A separation that only lasted a few months, since the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reappeared together at the tribute concert to Diana organized at Wembley, in July of that same year (see slideshow).
Also present with his wife, photographer Arthur Edwards remembers: “As we were leaving, we spotted William and Kate in the middle of a conversation alone in a corner. I remember Anne telling me, ‘Looks like it’s gone.’“Then, three years later, when announcing their engagement, Prince William had invited a few people for tea, to introduce them to Kate Middleton.”That’s when I asked the prince, ‘Why did you split up?’, says the photographer. I guess it was because he came from a broken home that he said, ‘Well, Arthur, I had to be sure she was the right woman for me because I want this marriage to last forever. ‘ I thought, ‘God, he risked all of this just to make sure he really liked this woman!’“
There followed a sumptuous wedding in Buckingham and three children: George, Charlotte and Louis (8, 6 and 3 years old). It is certainly in their company, in a small committee, that Kate Middleton should blow out its 40 candles this weekend.
