Kate and William with the family to celebrate Easter: Princess Charlotte adorable in a floral dress

As tradition dictates, the British royal family celebrated Easter this Sunday, April 17, 2022. For this feast day, a mass was organized in the morning at Saint George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II resides these lately, still weakened after being hit by Covid-19 last February.

Back from their ski vacation – they had once again chosen the French resort of Courchevel to clear their minds and hit the slopes with their family – Kate Middleton and Prince William attended Easter mass with two of their three children, the two older ones. If George, 8, and his little sister Charlotte, 6, were with their parents, little Louis, 3, was not present.

Very spring-like and elegant looks

For this new family appearance, Kate Middleton appeared sublime in a long sky blue Emilia Wickstead coat that she had already worn during a trip to Luxembourg in 2017. The Duchess of Cambridge associated this already known coat with a pair of Emmy London pumps and a clutch also from Emilia Wickstead, the Natasha model. Very elegant in this spring blue look, the 40-year-old Englishwoman was perfectly matched with her daughter. Princess Charlotte is wearing a little flowered dress with a Peter Pan collar, light blue tights, a navy blue cardigan and a pair of derbies in the same color. Her dad, Prince William, and older brother George both looked distinguished in navy suits worn with a white shirt and tie.

Elizabeth II absent

This Easter celebration had to be done without the presence of Queen Elizabeth who formalized her absence a few days ago. “Buckingham Palace today confirmed that the Queen will not attend this year’s Easter Sunday church service in Windsor,” announced Buckingham Palace in a press release sent on April 14. It is the first time in fifty years that the monarch, who will celebrate her 96th birthday on April 21, has not attended Easter mass.

Last Thursday, Elizabeth II was visited by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at Windsor Castle, before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex set sail for The Hague for the fifth edition of the Invictus Games. Did the parents of Archie (3 years old on May 6) and Lilibet (10 months) plan to come knowing that Kate Middleton and Prince William would be on vacation and therefore absent? Never have the two couples been so close geographically since the startling departure of Meghan and Harry two and a half years ago…
