(Paris) A futuristic 260 m three-room apartment2 equipped with a wardrobe room of more than 50 m2 : the private Parisian apartment of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February 2019, will be put up for auction on March 26, we learned on Tuesday from the notary office responsible for this sale.
Karl Lagerfeld, whose spectacular creations and shows for Chanel, Fendi and his own brand, had a profound impact on the world of fashion, lived there for around ten years until his death, Thomas Jousselin told AFP, associated notary of the Althemis firm, confirming press information.
Located in a 17th century buildinge century of the Quai Voltaire, in the heart of historic Paris, with a view overlooking the Seine and the Louvre Museum, the apartment has been completely redone by the designer “in a futuristic style with concrete on the floor and sections of glass shortbread,” detailed the same source.
The main room of 120 m2 includes numerous backlit library shelves. Its sleeping area overlooking the courtyard has a bedroom with removable partitions, backed by a wardrobe room of more than 50 m2.
It will be put on sale at a price of 5.3 million euros.
The sale, which follows several auctions relating to goods that belonged to the designer in 2021 and 2022, will take place at the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as online on the internet and by telephone. The right of access is conditional on a deposit of 1.06 million euros, specified the same source.
This method of sale by auction before the chamber of notaries was decided by the Monegasque administrator in charge of the designer’s estate, who himself appointed one of his French counterparts, according to Mr.e Jousselin. The latter refused to provide any details on Karl Lagerfeld’s inheritance, but, according to him, “there is nothing conflicting in this sale”.
