Alzner tells this anecdote with a smile in his voice.
“There is a financial advantage when you have an NHL salary and you play in the American League: you don’t have to pay the escrow [une partie du salaire placé en fidéicommis]. »
“I was looking for the little light in moments of darkness. It’s in my nature. I used to joke with my wife that I built a swimming pool with the money I saved fromescrow. I could thank the Canadian. »
If he had enough money to invest in his own earthworks at home with a salary of $6 million during the 2018-2019 season (but $4.625 million on the Canadian’s salary cap), Alzner knows he ended the year with a few thousand dollars more in his bank account due to a formality in the collective agreement.
Described as a big brother by his teammates with the Rocket, Alzner also made people happy with very simple gestures.
“When I was going out to restaurants with the Rocket guys on the road, I picked up the bill quite often. It was a form of politeness. I made way more money than my teammates. I also organized a big Halloween party and invited everyone. I wanted to take care of my teammates. »
