Indeed, M6 broadcast an extract from an evening that the two men spent together during the 18th season. And we saw Thibault taking out a bag of ready-made salad from his fridge. And Julien takes it up again: “How sad to buy salad like that… You buy a real salad, you know what I mean?”, deploring the origin of foreign products, while “you have enough French producers making salad” .
And while aside, the suitor did not really understand why Julien had been so revolted by his purchase, this November 24, 2023, Karine Le Marchand explained it to him, with a little less tact. “I eat French, it’s true that this speech was for me 20 years ago a speech of the extremes, which was a little anti-Europe and anti-open-minded. And I didn’t think that one day, 20 years later, I will be telling you: you have to eat French.” In the particular case of the Thibault-Julien couple, the paf star arbitrated: “When we buy bagged salad, half Italian and half Spanish, which is full of junk, we are hurting ourselves and we are killing French agriculture. Whereas if we take a small local salad, well we clean it, and it’s much cheaper“.
