Karim Benzema’s successor will be known on October 30

Since last year, the Socrates Prize has been awarded during the ceremony. It honors the social commitment of a professional footballer who has carried out solidarity actions in favor of inclusion and equal opportunities and in connection with changes in society. A new trophy for the French player of the year

The editor of France Soccer recalls that beyond the Ballon d’Or, the organizers have created the trophy for French player of the year and that of French coach of the year. “The magazine will create this year the trophy for the French player of the year”announces Vincent Garcia.

The Golden Ball rewards each year the best player evolving in a European championship without distinction of nationality. For the attribution of the reward, three criteria are retained by the organizers, recalls Vincent Garcia: “the individual performance, the prize list and the fair play, the positive attitude of the player”. 100 journalists from 100 different countries, representing the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings, take part in the vote for the “the most beautiful individual trophy in sport”says the journalist.
