Karim Benzema’s lawyer reacted, Wednesday October 19, to the comments made by Gérald Darmanin. The day before, on the CNews set, the Minister of the Interior had accused the French attacker by name of being “in connection, as we all know, with the Muslim Brotherhood.” Guest on RMC, his lawyer Hugues Vigier announced his intention to file a complaint against France’s first police officer.
“File a complaint? Yes”he replied to RMC, specifying that it would be “perhaps for public insult”. “This is different from defamation, which is the imputation of a specific fact. There, we understand that it is said in a derogatory manner. The accusations are false”added Maître Vigier.
During the interview, the lawyer especially wanted to formally refute the accusations of the Minister of the Interior. “It is absolutely false. Karim Benzema has no connection, neither directly nor remotely, with the Muslim Brotherhood. It is unimaginable what was said. It is unacceptable”he protested in particular.
