Kamel Chibli, vice-president of the Occitanie region, filed a complaint after discovering a racist message about him on the region’s website, reported France Bleu Occitanie on Thursday July 4.
The message, signed by a certain Roland, states: “If you’re not happy, you go back to your country and let the adults decide, you get out. If people vote for the RN, there’s a reason. This is France, you’re not at home.”. Kamel Chibli was born and raised in Ariège in a working-class Moroccan family who arrived in France in the 1960s.
“Quite sad to discover this kind of racist and hateful message, I am proud to be French and France is my country and no one will take it away from me, not even the RN trolls. I love my country, I love its values”, reacts the elected official on X. Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region, gives him her support, denouncing a “racism now uninhibited”.
