For the first time since the US president stepped down on July 21, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden campaigned together. They were gathered in Maryland for a rally on Thursday, August 15. The American vice president and new Democratic candidate appeared all smiles alongside the President of the United States, near Washington, during an event dedicated to promoting the reduction in the prices of certain drugs for the elderly, obtained by the Democrat’s administration.
The vice president, who has rekindled Democrats’ hopes of a victory over Donald Trump in November, encouraged a cheering crowd to chant “Thanks Joe! Thanks Joe!”. “There is a lot of love in this room for our president,” Kamala Harris said, before hugging the 81-year-old Democrat and handing him the floor.
The latter, who had abandoned the race for the White House at the end of July, predicted that the 59-year-old candidate would make a “sacred president”. The president took the opportunity to boast about his record and tackle Donald Trump, his predecessor and now Kamala Harris’ rival for the November 5 election. He even gave him an unflattering nickname: “Donald Trash” (“Donald Dump”in English), accusing him of “fight to suppress” the reforms passed under his mandate.
