New twist in the psychodrama at Les Républicains. The exclusion of LR president Eric Ciotti by the party’s political office, whose legitimacy he contested, was suspended by the courts on Friday June 14, pending a decision on the merits, according to a court decision Paris judicial consulted by franceinfo.
The LR national office voted twice, Wednesday and Friday, to exclude the leader after his decision to ally with the National Rally in the early legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.
Eric Ciotti has eight days to refer the matter to court before the suspension of his exclusion expires, the court added.
“The Paris judicial court has suspended my exclusion from the Republicans. I therefore continue to exercise my functions as President,” reacted Eric Ciotti on X after this court decision. He takes over the leadership of the party two days before the deadline to nominate candidates for the early legislative elections, Sunday at 6 p.m.
“I had no doubt because what was done was, in some ways, quite crude, he immediately declared on BFMTV. Make way for the countryside, make way for this alliance of the right that I wanted so that tomorrow we beat the extreme left.”
