justice seized after accusations of sexual harassment and racism

The Secretary of State in charge of youth and the SNU, Sarah El Haïry, seized, Tuesday April 18, the public prosecutor after accusations of sexual harassment, racism and humiliation. The facts would have taken place during stays of the universal national service (SNU) in June and July 2022 in the Hauts-de-Seine.

According to a document revealed by the weekly Politis and of which AFP obtained a copy, accusations of sexual harassment, racist remarks, humiliation and inappropriate gestures are aimed at a commander. Still according to this report consulted by AFP, a lieutenant-colonel is also accused of having had an attitude judged “inappropriate”on tutors and volunteers.

“Shedding light” on this SNU center

Sarah El Haïry’s firm explained that she also had “seized the General Inspectorate of Education” so that the latter “undertakes an investigation in order to shed light on the operation” of this SNU center in the summer of 2022.

“At the end of this mission, the necessary measures and sanctions will be taken”, still assures the cabinet of the secretary of Eta. In a tweet, the Union Etudiante union on Tuesday denounced “serious” and “shocking” behavior.
