The administrative court of Montpellier (Hérault) rejected on Wednesday May 15 afternoon the appeal of the Human Rights League against the curfew established for minors under 13 in Béziers, reports France Bleu Hérault.

The association indicates that it will appeal to the Council of State. It also indicates that it is maintaining the annulment procedure, the hearing of which is scheduled within eighteen months.

The Human Rights League asked the Montpellier administrative court on Wednesday to suspend the curfew for minors under 13 in Béziers, considering that the town hall was not providing “no element” justifying their involvement in disturbances to public order.

The mayor close to the extreme right, Robert Ménard, had justified this decree taken on April 22 by the “increasing number of young minors left to their own devices in the middle of the night” and an “worsening number of facts” torts, citing the fire of a school almost five years ago, in 2019, and the “riots of July 2023”.
