The case takes a legal turn. The Paris prosecutor’s office announces on Monday February 7 that an investigation has been opened for death threats against “Forbidden Zone” journalist Ophélie Meunier, placed under police protection after threats for a report on radical Islam. The investigations were launched at the end of January, following a complaint filed by the presenter.
After the broadcast, on January 23, of this number shot in particular in Roubaix (but also in Marseille, Lyon and Bobigny, in Seine-Saint-Denis), Internet users had challenged the image given to the northern city. The various right-wing mayor of the town, Guillaume Delbar, had denounced a Roubaix bashing and an “caricature”. The chosen one had then been the subject of threats, relating in particular to his presumed docility with regard to the Islamists. A witness of the show, who had testified openly about his “battle against radical Islam” in Roubaix, also received threatening messages.
