The Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, was referred to the Court of Justice of the Republic, Monday, October 3. This is a first for a Minister of State in office. He is accused of having taken advantage of his position to settle personal accounts with magistrates.

On the morning of Monday, October 3, the Court of Justice of the Republic ordered a trial against the Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond Moretti. The former lawyer is suspected of having used his position to settle accounts with certain magistrates. Magistrates with whom he was in open conflict at the time he pleaded: those of the national financial prosecutor’s office first, who had peeled his telephone bills, but also a judge stationed in Monaco whose methods he denounced.

At the origin of this procedure for illegal taking of interests, a complaint filed by two unions of magistrates. They welcome this decision. Through the voice of his lawyer, Me Christophe HardwoodEric Dupond Moretti reject any desire for revenge. Politically, the Keeper of the Seals is weakened. Opposition officials are calling for his resignation, even though the majority supports him. Eric Dupond Moretti appealed in cassation. The highest French court will not render its decision for several months.
