“No offence appeared sufficiently characterised”according to the courts. The investigation into the fundraising campaign to support the family of the police officer who killed young Nahel has been closed without further action, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Friday, July 5. The family of the young man who died in June 2023 in Nanterre had filed a complaint, in particular for “organized fraud.” It denounced “fraudulent maneuvers” and some “lies” of the initiator of the kitty, the former figure of the National Front Jean Messiha, accused of wanting “deceive” donors in order to raise funds.

Jean Messiha had been questioned as a free suspect in November, as part of the investigation entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Astute Crime. He had justified his prize money by the desire to support “the family of Nanterre police officer Florian M., who did his job and is now paying a high price”referring to his placement in pre-trial detention for five months.

According to The worldthe amount collected, more than 1.6 million euros, was finally paid to Florian M. He “didn’t touch it”assured his lawyer, quoted by the daily.
