Jürgen Hingsen Reflects on His Jungle Camp Experience
Jürgen Hingsen, aged 67, became the first celebrity to exit the RTL jungle camp on Friday evening. In an exclusive interview with spot on news, the former world-class decathlete opened up about the significant physical toll he experienced during his time on ‘I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!’ Hingsen expressed relief when host Sonja Zietlow called his name, allowing him to leave the challenging environment.
Overcoming Challenges and Looking Ahead
When asked about his feelings post-elimination, Hingsen shared, “I feel a bit run down and weak. It was really tough, and I never thought it would be so hard. I’ve lost 15 kilos, and the loss of substance has really affected me. The combination of sleep deprivation, limited food, and the overall atmosphere really took a toll.” He humorously added that while he aims to regain some weight, “10 kilos is actually enough” and expressed his reluctance to eat the camp’s staple meals of rice and beans again.
Reflecting on his exit, Hingsen admitted he felt a sense of relief, stating, “I was losing my strength, and it was becoming increasingly difficult. I was relieved when Sonja said I was out.” He also commented on his teammate Sam Dylan, saying that he bore no anger towards him for not earning many stars, believing that such experiences contribute to personal growth.
Since leaving the camp, Hingsen has already enjoyed the simple pleasure of coffee, which brought him immense joy. He plans to explore the country alongside his wife, cherishing the opportunity to connect with the local culture. Despite his low profile on the show, he clarified that he chose to be discreet during certain discussions but was always ready to step in during conflicts.
When asked about his closest bonds in the camp, he mentioned that he felt a fatherly connection with Timur, who was attentive and supportive. As for the competition, Hingsen wishes the title of jungle king for everyone, highlighting Edith, Lilly, and Nina as strong contenders. As for a potential return to the jungle, he said with a laugh, “That’s it! That was my jungle experience!” He concluded by acknowledging the valuable lessons he learned about teamwork and collaboration throughout the adventure.
