(Montreal) The Montreal Canadiens’ development camp will begin on Sunday at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, and the first choice of the last draft Juraj Slafkovsky will be there.

A total of 40 players will be expected on the ice, including 23 forwards, 12 defenders and five goalkeepers. The 11 players selected by the Habs during the auction held at the Bell Center on Thursday and Friday, including Slafkovsky and Filip Mesar, will be part of it.
The list of players invited to the development camp includes 28 prospects drafted by the organization, two free agents, three acquired by trade and seven invitees.
Players will be divided into two groups. On-ice training sessions will begin Monday at 12:15 p.m. on both surfaces at the Bell Sports Complex. All training will be open to the public.
This year, the organization invited to its development camp coach Charly Washipabano, from the Cree First Nations community in Nord-du-Québec, who is also the director of the Cree Nations Bears program. Washipabano is responsible for training and certifying all coaches in the region. He will accompany the coaches on the ice during the sessions.
Seminars covering, among other things, sports psychology as well as the science of sports and physical conditioning are on the schedule for the invited players.
Former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy was also invited to address the players during camp as part of a Respect and Consent session. He will be joined by former NHL defenseman Bruno Gervais.
The Canadiens also invited coaches Kirk MacDonald (USHL-Dubuque) and Simon Ferguson (BCHL-West Kelowna) to the development camp.
