Juno Prize 2024: Charlotte Cardin leads the nominations with six

For the second time in three years, Charlotte Cardin will appear at the Juno Awards wearing the hat of the great favorite of the Canadian music festival thanks to a harvest of six nominations.

The Quebec star, who released his second career album, 99 Nightsin August 2022, is in the running in all the cutting-edge categories: artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year (Confetti), Songwriter of the Year, Fans’ Choice and Pop Album of the Year.

In the race for the title of fans’ choice, submitted to the popular vote, she will notably rub shoulders with The Weeknd and Tate McRae.

With her six nominations, Charlotte Cardin is ahead of R&B artist Daniel Caesar and pop/rock singer and new favorite of Quebecers, Ontarian Talk, with five nominations each.

She is therefore in a good position to regain her title of queen of the Junos, deserved in 2022. Two years ago, Charlotte Cardin was the focal point of the Juno awards, which took place in Toronto. She had won four trophies: artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year and pop album of the year.

In 2024, as in 2022, she will sing during the Sunday evening televised gala.

Stréliski “powered by Quebec”

“Album of the year is a big nomination based on sales. In my case, the bulk of my sales are made in Quebec. I feel propelled by Quebec to Halifax.”

Three for Allison Russell

Allison Russell, who has just received her first career Grammy, is nominated three times, in the categories of songwriter, contemporary roots album and music video of the year, she who presented her second album, The Returnerlast summer.

The Juno for French-speaking album of the year will be contested between FouKi, Karkwa, Salebarbes, Souldia and Les Cowboys Fringants with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
