Juno Awards Gala | Karl Tremblay and Gordon Lightfoot will be honored

The Juno Awards gala will pay posthumous tribute to several artists who died during the year, including Cowboys Fringants singer Karl Tremblay and singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot.

The organizers of the event announced that Quebec pianist Alexandra Stréliski would take the stage to honor Tremblay, who died of cancer last November at the age of 47.

Aysanabee and Allison Russell will offer a tribute to singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot and guitarist Robbie Robertson, who also died last year.

Other artists performing at the gala include Indigenous singer-songwriters Jeremy Dutcher and Elisapie, who will take the stage together.

Gala host Nelly Furtado, six-time nominee Charlotte Cardin and five-award-nominated singer-songwriter Talk will also perform. Country star Josh Ross and Punjabi singer Karan Aujla are also among them.

The Juno Awards will be broadcast live on CBC from the Scotiabank Center Arena in Halifax on March 24.

Aysanabee and Allison Russell will be at the awards ceremony days after wrapping up their cross-country Canadian tour, which began last week in Vancouver and ends in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, on March 22.
