Juno Award: Album of the Year for Charlotte Cardin

Montreal singer Charlotte Cardin won album of the year at the 2022 Juno Awards gala on Sunday. It is in addition to the three other trophies she won the day before.

The second gala awards ceremony, which aims to reward the best in Canadian music, was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Charlotte Cardin won the prestigious Artist of the Year award on Saturday. She also received the statuette for the song of the year, thanks to her composition Meaningless. The singer-songwriter also took home honors for pop album of the year.

Sunday night’s early winners included Hamilton rock band Arkells for Group of the Year and Haviah Mighty who became the first woman to receive Rap Album of the Year for Stock Exchange.

Deborah Cox was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by former Toronto Raptors player Chris Bosh, who told the crowd how her hit Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here left a lasting impression on him.

Ontarian Shawn Mendes won the international excellence award as well as the TikTok audience award.

Singer Jessia, from British Columbia, was chosen revelation of the year.

The evening was hosted by Simu Liu, who opened the ceremony with a nod to his Marvel character.
