Hockey Canada has presented its full roster for the resumption of the World Junior Hockey Championship, which begins August 9 in Edmonton.

The 19-year-old Garand was part of the Canadian team that won silver at the 2021 World Juniors.

A native of Victoria, Garand spent his entire junior career with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers.

Johnson played nine games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last NHL season. He had three points and posted a plus-2 differential.

Johnson, 19, also represented Canada at the Beijing Olympics earlier this year.

Garand and Johnson were part of Team Canada at the 2022 World Juniors, before the tournament was postponed due to multiple COVID-19 outbreaks.

Six QMJHL players will wear Canada’s colors at the tournament: Joshua Roy, William Dufour, Nathan Gaucher, Riley Kidney, Elliot Desnoyers, Lukas Cormier. However, players from the Courteau circuit Mavrik Bourque and Xavier Bourgault skipped the event after obtaining their place on the team during the holiday season.

Defenders Kaiden Guhle and Owen Power as well as forwards Cole Perfetti, Shane Wright, Dylan Guenther, Jake Neighbors and Justin Sourdif will not be back either.

Forwards Tyson Foerster, Zack Ostapchuk and Brennan Othmann as well as defenders Daemon Hunt and Jack Thompson have been added.
