Update on the political news of the week with journalist Caroline Motte, present on the set of 12/13, Thursday July 13.

Emmanuel Macron will not take the traditional floor on Friday July 14. It will express itself in the days to come before the summer break, in a still undefined form. Officially nothing surprising, since since he became president, Emmanuel Macron has only spoken twice on National Day: in 2020 after the first confinement and in 2022 to launch his second term“, reports journalist Caroline Motte. However, his silence can be explained by other, more political reasons. The executive fears in particular “a resurgence of violence this evening and tomorrow evening“, and does not wish”add fuel to the fire”.

In this context of feared tensions, several municipalities have also chosen to cancel their festivities, such as Chelles (Seine et Marne) and Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis)as well as Montargis (Loiret)Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin)or Roubaix (North). The Minister of the Interior, for his part, announced an exceptional system of 130,000 police officers, gendarmes and firefighters for the days of July 14 and 15, just like the GIGN and the RAID. Marine Le Pen, present on the evening of Wednesday July 12 in Beauvais (Oise)regretted this “renunciation of the national holiday“.
