Juliette Binoche will be in the spotlight at the Goyas

(Madrid) The French actress Juliette Binoche will be honored on February 11 during the Goya, the Spanish Oscars, where she will receive a prize rewarding “her extraordinary trajectory”, announced Wednesday the Spanish Film Academy.

The 58-year-old performer who won an Oscar in 1996 for The English Patient by Anthony Minghella, “indisputable reference in European cinema”, will receive an international Goya at the ceremony held this year in Seville, in the south of the country.

This award has only existed for two years and was awarded in 2022 to Australian actress Cate Blanchett.

During her forty-year career, Juliette Binoche has acted in numerous films, including The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Lovers on the Bridge or The English Patient for which she received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

She has worked with filmmakers like Jean-Luc Godard, Leos Carax or Louis Malle, but also the Polish Krzysztof Kieslowski, the American Abel Ferrar, the Swiss Lasse Hallström, the Briton John Boorman or the Austrian Michael Haneke.

The actress collects awards, from the French César to the British Bafta, including acting awards at the Cannes, Berlin and Venice festivals. She was honored in 2022 at another Spanish film festival, that of San Sebastian.
