“I can’t imagine that this guy who dances sardines, with his shoulders, threatens me physically, violently to this extent.” For refusing to work with him, Julien Cazarre claims to have been threatened by Cyril Hanouna. In this extract from “Complementary investigation”, he recounts this violent phone call for which he filed a complaint.
He is a football lover, who was one of the figures of humor on Canal +. In 2016, Julien Cazarre’s profile appealed to Cyril Hanouna. The C8 host offers him a new show – Julien Cazarre declines the offer. A few weeks later, he gave an interview to the magazine France Football. Titled “I said no to Cyril Hanouna”, it will set things on fire.
In “Additional investigation”, Julien Cazarre says he paid dearly for his refusal to work with the “boss” of “TPMP”. “The article comes out, he says, I don’t pay attention… And one day, I’m at home, quietly, and I receive a phone call. I see ‘Cyril Hanouna’. I pick up… And there, the guy insults me with the voice of a guy from the city of 93… A caricature. He’s a poor man’s Tony Montana.”
Hearing “trash insults”, threats that he cites from memory, like “I’m going to smash you”, “I know where you live”, Julien Cazarre first believes has “a joke”, And hang up. Cyril Hanouna reminds us of this. “No, but did you think I was joking? he would have told her. You don’t know who we are, man…”
Did the management of Canal + encourage him to withdraw his complaint?
When he sees that his interlocutor “is serious”, and knowing “that he is always surrounded by strong people, that he likes this environment”, Julien Cazarre filed a complaint against Cyril Hanouna, on February 8, 2016, for “malicious phone call”. At the same time, he informs his superiors at Canal +. “But no, not Cyril, that’s not his type,” the sports director at the time would have reacted, incredulously. He would have promised her “to fix it”… before asking him to withdraw his complaint, says Julien Cazarre (which he refused).
Could Canal + management have put pressure on one of its employees to protect a pillar of the group? Contacted by telephone, the channel’s former sports director refused to delve into his memories. “I am retired“, And “it does not interest me“, he replied to the “Complément d’investigation” team. Julien Cazarre’s complaint was ultimately dismissed, the offense being “not sufficiently characterized”, according to the courts. At the time, Cyril Hanouna had acknowledged this phone call in the press, but not the threats.
