“I was happy and proud to have been your deputy. It is with this same pride and combativeness that I am a candidate for re-election”wrote MP Julien Bayou on Monday June 10 in a press release. “Faced with imminent danger, I intend to commit all my forces to the battle to prevent the extreme right from coming to power and to reignite hope”he says. “I hope, as many unions and associations have announced, that we can build the broadest coalition on a disruptive project”he continues.

The former national secretary of Europe Écologie-Les Verts wishes to represent himself in his constituency in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, although he resigned from the party and his parliamentary group at the beginning of April following accusations of moral harassment and abuse of weakness. He had motivated his resignation from the party by denouncing a “disloyal and scandalous relentlessness”.

Two investigations were opened in Paris at the beginning of March after complaints from Julien Bayou’s ex-partner for moral harassment and abuse of weakness, and against the party he led, Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV). “I know that the accusations made against me by my ex-partner have upset many of you and that is understandable. The current investigation will allow me to present all the elements proving my innocence”writes the outgoing MP. “If I were to be found guilty, I would resign from my mandate as an MP”he assures.
