Julie Gayet will chair the jury of the Gérardmer festival

(Paris) The actress, director and producer Julie Gayet will chair the jury of the 29e Gérardmer Festival, a major event for fantastic cinema which intends to be held again in theaters from January 26 to 30.

Popular with cinephiles, the Vosges festival had to resolve to an online edition last year, due to the pandemic.

With Julie Gayet, the president of the International Fantastic Film Festival, Bruno Barde, intends to “salute daring, curiosity, talent, but also the ability to push back the limits”, according to a press release.

At 49, Julie Gayet has appeared in more than 70 films, from romantic comedy to thriller to drama, including Delphine 1, Yvan 0 by Dominique Farrugia or Quai d’Orsay by Bertrand Tavernier. She also toured extensively on television.

She has produced twenty films including Serious, Grand Prize at Gérardmer in 2017, signed Julia Ducournau, filmmaker awarded the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2021 for Titanium. This year, she founded a festival dedicated to music and cinema, Twin sisters, which was held this summer in Rochefort.

In Gérardmer, his jury will notably have to award the Grand Prix which will succeed Possessor, by Brandon Cronenberg, son of director David Cronenberg, a film which could not be released in theaters in France, the health measures forcing its distributors to turn to video on demand.
