Silent for several years, the Depardieu family has for the first time chosen to emerge from the silence it had imposed on itself. Gérard Depardieu, indicted since 2020 for acts of rape denounced by actress Juliette Arnould, is also accused by around ten other women of having sexually abused or even raped them, in an investigation published by Mediapart. But the document of Further investigation dedicated to “The Fall of the Ogre” angered the Depardieu clan, leading the latter to come out of the woods to come and defend the one whom everyone accuses. On Thursday, December 7, 2023, Tristan Waleckx and his teams proposed an incriminating document on the stay of Yann Moix and Gérard Depardieu in Pyongyang, in North Korea, during which the sacred monster of French cinema engaged in many schoolboy jokes for some, obscene for others.
One of the most controversial passages in this document is certainly the moment where Gérard Depardieu sexualizes a twelve-year-old child when she rides a horse, affirming that women love riding horses because it would make them shudder with pleasure: “Women love to ride horses. Their clits rub against the pommel of the saddle. They enjoy a lot, they’re big sluts”. The Depardieu clan, in a platform given to the JDD this Sunday, December 17, 2023, decided for the first time to come to the aid of Gérard Depardieu, who according to them finds himself facing a “cabal” of historical magnitude.
“He calls everyone a girl!”
This column is co-signed by all members of the Depardieu family: his three children, Julie, Roxane and Jean ; his niece Delphine ; And Elisabeth, his ex-wifeto whom he was married between 1970 and 2006. Only one member of the Depardieu clan seems to be missing: Alain Depardieu, the brother of Gérard and father of Delphine, who had been the only one to agree to participate in the Further investigation. Was the objective to make Gérard Depardieu look like a pedophile?“ The clan wanted to defend the man that Gérard Depardieu is in private: “With his children, he is someone extremely modest, delicate and prudish!”
“The damage to the whole family is indescribable”
In the remainder of this open letter, Julie Depardieu and the entire family of Gérard Depardieu are outraged by the fate reserved for their father, grandfather, uncle and ex-husband, even though he apologized a few months agofor words that struck: “Of course, these comments are shocking and no longer have to be made. But our father/grandfather/uncle does not deserve such a fate (…) For his verbal excesses which could sometimes have hurt, he apologized in his letter I finally want to tell my truth published in Le Figaro. To hurt is not his intention.” insist those close to the actor today considered undesirable.
And to conclude with a testimony of unwavering love and support: “For him, and the whole family, the damage is indescribable. We witness, frightened, this terrifying collective madness; this total confusion which goes beyond Gérard’s person. We just call for reason and to let Justice work. We like it.”
Belgium, Quebec and the French state dissociate themselves
For several days, many political and diplomatic voices have been raised. In France, the public service announced that it would no longer purchase any films in which Gérard Depardieu plays a role, and will be careful to rebroadcast as few films as possible in which he appears. Rima Abdul Malak, Minister of Culture, announced his intention to strip Gérard Depardieu of the Legion of Honor which was awarded to him a few years ago. In Belgium, where he seems to have found refuge for a few weeks, a small town decided to withdraw the title of honorary citizen that it had granted him.
