‘A Deep Connection to Italy, Inspired by My Italian Grandmother’

Femme Actuelle: What new projects are you working on?

Julie Andrieu: Last spring, I envisioned a comprehensive tour of Italy. I relocated to this enchanting country and saw it as the perfect moment to embark on a project centered around Italy. I have a deep affection for this land, largely fueled by my connection to my Italian grandmother. For someone like me, who has a passion for cooking, art, and the Mediterranean lifestyle, Italy is simply irresistible!

Thus, I crafted this tour that currently highlights five iconic cities: Venice, Milan, Naples, Florence, and Rome—though there’s room for expansion. Each city becomes a backdrop for my virtual strolls, where I guide internet users as if they were friends exploring the area. I share my favorite culinary spots and other gems, including parks, natural sites, and artisans I admire. Additionally, I provide insights into museums and churches—essential elements of the Italian experience.

Are these guided tours presented as shows?

Julie Andrieu: Yes, they are brief segments lasting between 4 to 5 minutes, which I share on my Instagram account. These programs are part of my social media content, and thanks to sponsorship from the Generali group, an Italian insurance company, they will be distributed across Europe. They manage the translation and broadcasting, while I focus on my own networks for sharing.

‘Living Between France and Italy’

You spent several months in Rome; is your life now in Italy?

Julie Andrieu: No, I find myself balancing life between the two countries! My husband is unable to relocate due to his work commitments in France, which complicates things. Therefore, I split my time between France and Italy for my professional endeavors. We have purchased a pied-à-terre there, and I am also working on setting up a show, which means I spend considerable time in Italy. While I would love to stay there permanently, my story is still unfolding.

Your children accompanied you on this adventure!

Julie Andrieu: Indeed, my children came along, albeit a bit reluctantly, as is often the case! When it comes to leaving behind their school, friends, and familiar surroundings, it’s always a challenge. However, they ended up enjoying the experience. Moving—whether it’s to Italy, another region of France, or elsewhere—offers immense benefits. It opens up a world of possibilities, encourages introspection, and allows for new experiences. Shifting your environment, meeting different people—it’s truly enriching!

After exploring France, do you plan to create shows based in Italy?

Julie Andrieu: I have already traveled extensively across Italy in September and October, with plans to continue in November. If the response is positive and audiences embrace the content, I hope to expand next year—either by exploring other cities or the beautiful countryside, depending on how things unfold!
