Director Pedro Almodóvar is preparing his first feature film in English, titled The Room Next Doorand this one will star a seasoned American actress: Julianne Moore.
The news was shared on social media on Thursday by Almodóvar’s production company, El Deseo. Julianne Moore will star alongside British actress Tilda Swinton (We need to talk about Kevin, Moonrise Kingdom), who also had a role in a recent short film in English by Almodóvar, The Human Voice.
Little is still known about Almodóvar’s next film, other than the fact that it will be “a drama between a mother and a daughter”, and that it will be shot in the spring, in New York and Madrid. With Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton both being 63 years old, it’s unlikely that one will play the other’s mother.
Pedro Almodóvar is among the best-known Spanish directors in the world with films like Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, All about my mother And Speak with her. His most recent feature film, Parallel Mothers (2021), starred one of its favorite actresses, Penélope Cruz.
As for Julianne Moore, she has appeared in numerous films, including Jurassic Park (1993), Boogie Nights (1998), Far from Heaven And Still Alicewhich won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2015.
