This Friday, December 8, 2023, Julian Bugier will present an exceptional edition of the 1 p.m. news live from inside Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral. On this occasion, the journalist spoke to Femme Actuelle on several various subjects. He first shares his state of mind regarding this special edition.
“Rather enthusiastic, because it’s always a pleasure to get off set. Since I’ve been at the helm of 1 p.m., we’ve started a lot of relocations. I really love live and everything that that implies. It’s exciting, it’s exhilarating, it’s more of a positive emulation. I often say that it’s a profession of passion and it’s true. It’s what has always driven me, since I was a kid, I dream of doing this job. It allows us to delve into worlds to which we would not have access, we become a conveyor of emotions, a conveyor of information. I have the chance to go into the field, to live new and exceptional experiences, meeting absolutely incredible people. It thrills me.” he says.
The journalist is then questioned about his wife Claire Fournier who is also a journalist
. So is it an advantage or a disadvantage in married life to have the same job as your partner? “I think there’s a bit of both. When I met my wife, I was sort of her intern in a way, so we never asked ourselves ‘what if we did different jobs?’ ” We both have a strong curiosity, so we manage to separate our professional life and our married life, fortunately, and we are very interested in each other’s projects. contribution is also rewarding. For example, my wife does a wonderful podcast about being a woman over 45 [Chaud Dedans, ndlr.], I really admire what she does. It’s a world that I know less about, about which I ask lots of questions, about which she asks me for advice… We are more in a form of complementarity.”
Julian Bugier is then questioned about his two children who have two journalist parents. “We ask him if the desire to move away a little from current events is felt. “We try to cut it out a little when we’re at home, and their big thing is to ask us to watch the 8 p.m. news! [rires] They remind me of myself when I was a kid. I grew up in the 80s, and the 8 p.m. news was really the highlight. We watched it with the parents, very religiously. My kids are in there too. They are more demanding than we are force of proposal“.
