A judicial investigation for “violence by a person in charge of a public service mission” was opened on January 3, 2022 against the former head of the endometriosis center at the Tenon hospital in Paris, Emile Daraï, learned franceinfo Monday, March 7 from a source familiar with the matter. The doctor is accused by several patients of rape. At this stage, 25 victims have been identified, adds this source.
Professor Emile Daraï has been the subject of rape charges since a first complaint filed by a 17-year-old girl and following which the Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on September 28 for “rape by a person having authority over a minor over the age of 15”. The opening of this judicial investigation is therefore a new stage in the procedure, with the appointment of an investigating judge for this case.
On December 9, Emile Daraï was definitively removed from his post as head of the endometriosis center at the Tenon hospital in Paris, after an internal investigation by the Public Assistance – Paris Hospitals (AP-HP). Professor Daraï can however continue to practice as a simple gynecologist.
