The favorites in the general classification will fight their first battle on historic slopes. After three days in Hungary, the Giro riders will return to Italy on Tuesday May 10, 2022, for the fourth stage of the 2022 edition. On the program, neither more nor less than Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe . The arrival judged at the top promises to be explosive after more than 20 kilometers of ascent at an average of 5.9%.
The stage victory will therefore go to a strong man, who could score a double blow by taking the leader’s pink jersey, for the time being on the shoulders of Mathieu van der Poel.
