His season could not have started better. The young Spaniard Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) won the time trial of the third stage of the Tour de Romandie on Friday 28 April. He was 5 seconds ahead of Matteo Jorgenson (Movistar), while his teammate Adam Yates completed the podium, 17 seconds behind.
Ayuso, third in the last Vuelta and who begins his 2023 exercise on the roads of French-speaking Switzerland, seized the yellow jersey at the same time. Without creating abysmal gaps, he is ahead of Jorgenson in the general classification, the new runner-up at 18 seconds. Tobias Foss, world time trial champion but only eighth today, downgrades one rank to now occupy third place overall (19″).
Bardet far from the account
Highly visible during the first days of racing, Romain Bardet (Team DSM) lost ground. With almost a minute behind Ayuso on this time, the Frenchman, with the 26th time, goes from 7th to 18th place in the general classification, 1’03 “from the Spanish leader and behind other Tricolores, such as Rémi Cavagna (13th) and Thibaut Pinot (16th).
