Joyce Jonathan, who has become an icon in China, wins the local Star Academy

Joyce Jonathan is shining internationally. The 34-year-old French singer won the talent show “Cheng Feng”, the Chinese equivalent of “Star Academy”, on Thursday, June 27, according to information from Parisian.

The native of Levallois-Perret had participated for four months in the largest televised singing competition in the country, followed by tens of millions of viewers. “We are only women over thirty, who already have a professional background. I am competing with other singers, actresses and TV presenters famous in their country“, she confides to Parisian.

China was no stranger to Joyce Jonathan. The native of Levallois-Perret describes traveling to the Middle Kingdom since her childhood. She returns there every year to perform in concert.

In France, Joyce Jonathan’s musical career took off in 2007. She was the first one female artist produced by My Major Company who had already revealed Gregory to the general public. She has since recorded five albums, earning a platinum disc for On guard (2010) and a gold disc for A place for me (2016).
