Jovette-Marchessault Prize | Linda Brunelle rewarded

Costume designer Linda Brunelle won the Jovette-Marchessault prize on Monday evening. This prize, which aims to recognize and promote the contribution of women artists to the Montreal theater community, is accompanied by a $20,000 grant offered by the Conseil des arts de Montréal.


This year, the prize aimed to highlight the work of designers. Three women were in the running: Elen Ewing, Sonoyo Nishikawa and Linda Brunelle.

“I am immensely touched by this recognition which celebrates the perseverance and work of many women artists. I undertake to take responsibility for it, that is to say, to continue my commitment to this living, fascinating and exciting art, which allows us at every moment to dream of a world in which the word freedom takes on its full meaning. , declared the winner in a press release.

In her already 30-year career, Linda Brunelle has distinguished herself in theater (among others with directors Claude Poissant and Frédéric Dubois), in dance, in opera, in cinema and in the circus. His creations have also been included in various exhibitions, notably in Prague and Moscow.
