(Montreal) Global Affairs Canada has confirmed that a Canadian citizen died in a bus accident that occurred Friday in Lake George, New York.
The agency said it was aware that two other Canadians were injured in the accident. She is trying to confirm whether this is also the case for other Canadians.
New York State Police announced that one person was dead and 11 others were injured after the Skyway Coach Line tourist bus crashed on Highway 87. The vehicle, which left Montreal, was heading to New York.
New York state authorities said most of the 23 occupants on board a bus were Canadian citizens. However, at least two passengers were Swiss citizens.
The injured, including one person with significant injuries, according to police, were transported to nearby hospitals.
Global Affairs says it is providing consular assistance to the victim’s family, but refuses to provide further information for confidentiality reasons.
