Journalist Chantal Machabée leaves RDS and becomes VP. communications from the Canadian

Chantal Machabée has left her post as sports journalist at the Sports Network to accept the role of vice-president of communications for the Montreal Canadiens, announced the owner, president and CEO of Groupe CH, Geoff Molson, on Wednesday morning.

In her role, she will work in close collaboration with the hockey operations department and will be responsible for managing all communications in this sector. She will report directly to the Sports and Entertainment President of Groupe CH, France Margaret Bélanger.

For more than 32 years, Machabée covered all of Quebec sport, including the daily activities of the Habs, for RDS. A true pioneer in the sports broadcasting industry, in 1989 she became the first woman to host a sports news bulletin in Quebec – alongside Serge Deslongchamps.

“I have had the privilege of having a career of more than 38 years in the business, including more than 32 with RDS, and I am extremely grateful. A new chapter is now opening up for me and it is with great happiness that I accept this new challenge, ”Machabée said of his appointment.
