Arman Soldin took the pose a few weeks ago smiling, near a trench. He liked to say he told stories, and was passionate about information. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, he has multiplied the reports. The 32-year-old was killed on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 9, in a rain of rockets near Bakhmout.

“Bringing testimonies, stories, that was all that animated him”

On May 3, he was on the front line with Ukrainian soldiers. He posted a video along with the comment: “It’s pure terror”. The journalist also highlighted the fate of ordinary people, such as a woman who took care of her garden near the fighting. “Bringing testimonies, stories, that was all that animated him”, says his friend Robin Panfili, also a journalist. A gifted footballer, he had played at the Stade Rennais before being recruited in 2015 by the offices of Agence France-Presse.
