Josselain Barrellon-Vernay retains his title of French University Champion over 1500m

Josselain Barrellon-Vernay is a French athlete, born February 19, 1999, licensed at Elan Sportif Trélissacois, studying in Bordeaux, and it is under the colors of his school that he retained his title of Champion of France UNSS on 1500 meters. He reigns over the middle distance among schools, but also in clubs, at regional and national level. His goal for the season, to beat his own record over the distance.

A title retained over 1500 meters

Josselain therefore participated in the finals of the French Athletics Championships, in its UNSS version, its school version. He had won the title over a distance that seems to suit him well, the middle distance, the 1500m. It was in 2019 in Rouen. The following two years, the editions were canceled due to the Covid19 pandemic. This time it was at Cergy Pontoise that he again triumphed, with a good acceleration in the second half of the race. Race that he tells us about in Sport en Périgord.

Meetings before the French Championships

If you ask Josselain Barrellon-Vernay, a young athlete from Elan Sportif Trélissacois, his main objective for the season, he answers, beat my personal best in the 1500m. A record which is 3mn 39sec and 68 hundredths. It’s about 3 seconds from the minima for the European Championships, that’s to say the level of the young Périgord. It is coming back from Oordeghem, an international meeting in Belgium and will race at Décines, very close to Lyon. A busy schedule!
