An unexpected meeting between the king of comedy and an actress more devoted to auteur cinema. José Garcia and Charlotte Gainsbourg, a new on-screen tandem, reunited from Wednesday April 10 in We Leroys, a comedy about a couple at the end of their tether. The character of Charlotte Gainsbourg, a depressed travel agent, can no longer stand her husband’s absences and his lack of romance. His companion, played by José Garcia, will attempt the last chance operation to rekindle the flame.
“A true love story”
A family road trip to tell the universal story of couple wear and tear. “It’s a real love story. It didn’t start from nothing, they have a real past, very strong, very joyful moments, which deteriorated”, summarizes Charlotte Gainsbourg. José Garcia has fun with his character: “He’s going to ask for three days (…) he says to himself that in three days, he will be able to repair twenty years of erosion.” The couple is on the verge of implosion, as their children prepare to leave home. A journey into the adolescent memories of the director, Florent Bernard, for whom this is his first film.
