The cascade of injuries never ends. Weighed down by a series of major withdrawals (Pogba, Benzema, Kimpembe, Rabiot, Kanté …), the next gathering of the France team seems to be marabouted. Friday, a few hours after the announcement of the selection of Boubacar Kamara to compensate for the absence of Adrien Rabiot, the midfielder of Aston Villa was injured before half-time against Southampton.

So Saturday, September 17, the FFF announced that the player (Kamara) called to compensate for the withdrawal of another (Rabiot) was in turn forced to give up the matches against Austria and Denmark. Faced with this incredible situation, Didier Deschamps was therefore forced to call in new reinforcements. The coach opted for Jordan Veretout.

At 29, the former Roma player, who signed for Olympique de Marseille last summer, already has five selections for the Blues, all under the orders of Didier Deschamps, in the fall of 2021. Author of a discreet start to the season, the former Nantes player has been gaining momentum for a few games, like the one against Tottenham on the first day of the Champions League. However, it remains, like OM, on a failed outing against Eintracht Frankfurt, still in C1.

Jordan Veretout will join the France group at Clairefontaine on Monday, after facing Stade Rennes on Sunday at 3 p.m., at the Stade Vélodrome. As a reminder, the world champions have an appointment with Austria on September 22 at the Stade de France, then with Denmark on September 25 in Copenhagen.
